McCoy Elementary School is proud to recognize our PreK teacher, Ms. Chrisariel Gordon; assistant teacher, Keiarra Person; instructional coach, Tijuana Thompson, and building principal, Bridgett Wheaton for participating in the CLASS Domain Deep Dive professional learning experience.

The Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) focuses on the quality of interactions between teachers and students. During the training, participants explored three essential areas of an effective early-childhood classroom: Emotional Support, Classroom Organization, and Instructional Support. The team examined how positive relationships, well-established routines, engaging learning experiences, meaningful conversations, and intentional feedback support young learners’ academic and social-emotional development.

This training will help strengthen our PreK program by providing our teacher and assistant teacher with shared strategies for creating a warm, organized, and engaging classroom environment. It will also help them work together more intentionally to encourage student independence, promote language development, extend student thinking, and respond effectively to the individual needs of every scholar.

Participation by the instructional coach and building principal will provide continued support beyond the training. Through coaching, classroom observations, feedback, and collaborative planning, our leadership team will help ensure that the strategies learned are consistently incorporated into daily PreK instruction.
