June 10, 2026 - Throughout the camp, Rashad distinguished himself as one of the most engaged and dedicated students in attendance. He approached every session with enthusiasm and purpose, actively participating in discussions, asking thoughtful questions, and demonstrating a genuine desire to learn, grow, and maximize every opportunity. His level of engagement and maturity set him apart and reflected qualities that will undoubtedly serve him well in the future.

One GEAR UP employee shared, "What impressed me most was that Rashad's interest did not end when the camp concluded. Since returning home, he has reached out to express an interest in volunteering and learning more about the work I do in communities across the Mississippi Delta." His initiative to continue learning and serving others beyond the program speaks volumes about his character, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to personal growth.

In addition to his enthusiasm for learning, Rashad consistently demonstrated respect, professionalism, and kindness in every interaction with staff, guest speakers, and fellow participants. He carried himself with integrity and exemplified the attitude, work ethic, and leadership potential that we strive to cultivate in our students.

We are incredibly proud of the young man Rashad is becoming. Throughout the program, he represented himself, his family, his school, and his community with distinction. He embodies the qualities of a servant leader and has left a lasting impression on everyone who had the opportunity to work with him.
