From July 28–30, 2026, three Yazoo City High School students traveled to New York City in recognition of their participation in the Stock Market Game™. The national financial education program is offered by the SIFMA Foundation and coordinated in Mississippi by the Mississippi Council on Economic Education. Locally, the program was implemented through a partnership among the Mississippi Council on Economic Education, Yazoo City Municipal School District, Mississippi State University Extension, and Mississippi 4-H.

The students were accompanied by three Yazoo City Municipal School District staff members, a parent volunteer, and an MSU Extension staff member. During the trip, the group participated in a financial literacy session at the Deutsche Bank Center and enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of Good Morning America. They also visited the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, the Statue of Liberty, and Times Square and attended a Broadway performance of Disney’s The Lion King.

Through the generosity of sponsors, community partners, and volunteers, enough money was raised for three students, one teacher, and one volunteer to attend at no cost. This once-in-a-lifetime experience exposed the students to finance, history, media, culture, and new career possibilities while creating memories they will treasure for years to come.
