June 5, 2026 - In early June, rising 10-12 grade students from YCHS traveled to JSU for the Algorithms and Energy STEM Camp sponsored by ExxonMobil and Rice University. Throughout the week, students studied heat sinks, algorithms, carbon captures, data centers and their impacts, and AI generated videos. Students also practiced their public speaking skills and collaborated with each other.

On the last day, a final presentation created and delivered by the students was given to executives from Exxon and other visitors. The following students were recognized for their outstanding presentations: Zakira McGee, Zasira McGee, Rashad Knox, Jamierio Effinger and Isaiah Jones.
