YAZOO CITY, MS, June 18, 2026 โ€” Yazoo City Municipal School District proudly celebrates the achievement of Ms. Tijuana Thompson, Instructional Coach at McCoy Elementary School, who was recognized today by the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) for successfully completing the Literacy Coach Academy of Mississippi (LCAM).

The Literacy Coach Academy of Mississippi is a comprehensive professional learning program designed to strengthen literacy leadership and instructional practices across the state. Through the academy, literacy coaches engage in extensive training focused on the science of reading, evidence-based literacy instruction, coaching practices, data analysis, and strategies to improve student achievement in reading.

Ms. Thompson serves as the Instructional Coach for students and teachers in grades Kindergarten through Third Grade at McCoy Elementary School. In this role, she collaborates closely with educators to enhance classroom instruction, support effective literacy practices, analyze student data, and ensure that all students develop strong foundational reading skills.
