Chelsea Washington is a dedicated 3rd-year 7th Grade English Language Arts teacher who is passionate about literacy, student growth, and educational equity. Throughout her teaching career, she has worked to create engaging learning experiences that help students strengthen their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. In addition to her work in the classroom, Chelsea served as a Teach Plus Fellow (2025- 2026), where she collaborated with a small cohort of educators focused on advancing literacy instruction and educational policy.

During the fellowship, she expanded her knowledge of the Science of Reading and explored Mississippi educational policy recommendations connected to middle school literacy as an extension of the โ€œMississippi Miracle.โ€ Chelsea also advocated on behalf of students and educators by meeting with policymakers and participating in Capitol Day in Jackson, Mississippi. Through these experiences, she strengthened her leadership skills and deepened her understanding of the importance of educator voice in shaping policies that promote equitable, high-quality literacy instruction for all students.
