Yazoo City, Miss. – October 10, 2025 – Yazoo City High School, in partnership with the Larry Summers Career and Technical Center, welcomed families, community members, and local leaders for a Community Walkthrough designed to strengthen connections between the school and the community it proudly serves.
During the event, stakeholders toured the campus, visited classrooms, and witnessed firsthand the quality teaching and learning taking place at YCHS. Visitors observed students actively engaged in lessons that reflect the school’s ongoing commitment to academic growth, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
As part of the walkthrough, the Larry Summers Career and Technical Center hosted a College Fair for students and guests, offering valuable information about postsecondary opportunities, career pathways, and workforce development programs. Representatives from colleges, universities, and career programs shared resources to help students prepare for their next steps after graduation.
To showcase student talent and school spirit, the Yazoo City High School Band and Cheerleaders energized the event with lively performances that filled the halls with music, enthusiasm, and pride. Their participation highlighted the vital role extracurricular programs play in developing well-rounded students and fostering unity across the school community.
Principal Dr. Sharon Brown emphasized that the walkthrough is more than a simple visit—it is an invitation for the community to be part of the school’s vision for progress. “When our community is engaged, our students feel supported—and that support translates directly into their success,” said Brown.
The Community Walkthrough and College Fair are among several initiatives aimed at deepening collaboration between Yazoo City High School, the Larry Summers Career and Technical Center, and their stakeholders.
